Can LG mount a challenge for king of the smartphones?
Best driving satnav apps
With the right app installed on your smartphone or tablet, you don't need a satnav on your dashboard to find your way from point A to point B.
Here's MSN Tech's guide of the best navigation apps available for Windows Phone, iOS, Android and BlackBerry. It's a competitive market, which is good news for drivers as apps try and outdo each other in terms of features and accuracy.
You can pick up some apps for free, while others cost a fair old chunk of cash, but they'll all get you to your destination safe and sound and they are all much cheaper than dedicated satnav devices.
If you do a lot of driving, look out for features such as live traffic alerts, automatic re-routing and extra help at junctions. For the full satnav effect, and to stay safe on the road, treat yourself to a compatible car dock for your phone or tablet too.

I used to rely on a road atlas or printed Google Maps but as I got nearer my destination, traffic was always too busy to be able to slow down and look at the map, there was nowhere to stop, and wearing reading glasses meant I couldn't see to drive if I was having a quick look at the map.
I bought a Satnav purely for the last few miles of my journey and it's been worth the money. I don't have (or need/want) a smart phone. Bing Maps sadly is not a patch on Google Maps. The same postcode comes up with an address on the other side of town often 2 or 3 miles away from Google's correct pinpoint. The streetview photo on google is often very helpful too.
