Netflix (free 1 month trial, iOS and Android)
Movie-on-demand app Netflix has been around in the US for quite a while already, so it's great to see the American movie buff's service of choice finally make its way to the UK, with mobile and console apps now available for iPad, Android, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.

Essentially, Netflix is a movie streaming service - much like that already on offer from the likes of Amazon-owned LoveFilm - that instantly delivers a superb selection of flicks directly to your tablet, phone, games console or net-connected smart TV. Unlike some of its competitors, Netflix doesn't offer a DVD or Blu-ray postal loan service, preferring instead to focus its efforts on developing quality streaming apps.
