This is Dr Rodriguez - the man responsible for the astonishing work on Norris's face.
Rodriguez led the face transplant team and is associate professor of surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and chief of plastic, reconstructive and maxillofacial surgery at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

what a amazing brave man, good luck to him and hope he can finally live a normal life and stop hiding away. God bless and may he have and lead a life like he once dreamed off before having it all snatched away from him.

Who the hell is posting thumbs down to this mans previous disability to the picture presented now. Yes the accident may have left him very ugly but at least his ugliness was bravely borne unlike the R SOLE who must be very ugly inside to want to wish this man ill. Good luck to him and congratulations to the skilled surgeons that have given this man a better outlook than he can have imagined.

This is amazing the man is so brave and the surgeons so skilled. It will transform his life and the lives of others who are badly injured. I am in awe of them!

This must give hope and inspiration to other people with similar facial injuries. It is great that Richard and his family can once again live normal lives. The medical team who worked to do this are incredible as was the donor and his family who gave consent for the transplant to take place.
