Wasteland, which inspired the Fallout series, is due to get a belated sequel thanks to Kickstarter. A groundbreaking title upon its release in 1988, the original game took place in a brutal post-apocalyptic world. Most of the game's original development team are returning for the Wasteland 2 project, which raised just under $3 million in pledges - way in excess of the original $900,000 goal. The developer's claim to have pitched the game to mainstream publishers several times, only to be told, like Tim Schafer, that there was not enough interest in old-school RPGs to warrant stumping up the cash. Wrong again.
