"Like-A-Hug" Facebook vest gives you a hug

The bizarre "Like-A-Hug" vest gives the user a hug every time they receive a 'Like' on Facebook.

"Like-A-Hug" is a wearable social media vest that gives the lucky wearer a hug when they receive a 'Like' on Facebook.

How does it work?

The warm, squishy, hug is administered when the Wearer receives a Facebook notification on their phone (so when friends 'Like' a photo, video, or status update) - the vest then inflates.

Hailing from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the inventors hope the quirky gadget will help us all to "feel the warmth, encouragement, support, or love that we feel when we receive hugs." Sounds to us like they're trying to recapture that hippy free-love vibe of the swinging sixties...

The inventors explain: "We came up with the concept over a casual conversation about long-distance relationships and the limitations of video chat interfaces like Skype. The concept of telepresence arose, and we toyed with the idea of receiving hugs via wireless technology. The result was Like-A-Hug."

Do you think the concept is ridiculous or do the inventors have their hearts in the right place? Let us know in the comments below.
