Apple OS X Mountain Lion: Notification Center

Is cheap a good advert for content? To be fair, the upgrade will make social networking sense perhaps. In the realms of using a MAC or PC for anything other than general socialising, the "advances" in either Win 8 or Mountain Lion are of little interest or use. The core of the operating systems is basically unchanged, specifically Win 8  is merely the continuing effort to get Vista to work correctly. Certainly from the perspective of average use, if you like the gimmicks - go ahead and get it. Mountain Lion is also a step into mobile synchronisation with various devices and again "love gimmick - spend money". If your computer and network usage is of a higher function there is little of any real advantage. I do use both MAC and PC (and Linux) in my work and have a requirement to understand them at a high level, there is little to be gained from the constant addition of gimmicks other than problems for users when things don't work or are used poorly.
