Voting underway on T3 gadget awards 2012
Tech magazine T3 has launched its 2012 gadget awards, with the public invited to vote for the most exciting and innovative technology of the past 12 months.
Must-have kit such as the new Apple iPad, Sony PS Vita and the HTC One X are among the devices vying for a host of awards including the top prize: gadget of the year.
The gadget personality of the year award returns once again, with tech-savvy celebs such as Pollyanna Woodward and Stephen Fry joined by more unusual selections such as infamous MegaUpload founder Kim Dotcom.
T3 editor Luke Peters said: "Last year's T3 gadget awards was a phenomenal success, attracting almost one million reader votes and 600 guests on the night, making it the biggest occasion of its kind in the UK, if not the world.
"This year, with the help of our readers, it'll be even bigger than ever before."
Voting is open now on the longlists, where gadget fans can vote for their favourites in 19 different categories. Voters have until 18 July to have their say - and can also suggest the 'wildcard' addition of any gadgets that haven't made the it onto the list.
Of the initial 195 nominations, 118 will make the shortlist which will also be opened for public vote. Finally, the votes will be combined with the scores from a panel of industry judges - including MSN Tech and Gadgets' Verity Burns - to determine the results.
The winners will be revealed at a star-studded awards ceremony, taking place at Old Billingsgate, London on Monday 8 October 2012.
Last year's awards were the biggest in the event's history. There were more than one million reader votes, with Xbox Kinect scooping the gadget of the year award, while Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg was named gadget personality of the year.
