The Amazon Kindle Touch has just arrived in the UK. But a rival ebook reader, from Kobo, has been available here for months. There are plenty of similarities between the two. Both use e-ink displays: the black-and-white screens which unlike a computer screen are easy to read in bright sunlight. The displays are largely the same, measuring six inches and with a resolution of 600 x 800 pixels. Both have just one button on the front - for everything else you just poke at the screen with your finger. Both have batteries which, thanks to the thrifty way e-ink draws power, last for up to a month. But beyond that... it's all up for grabs.
