Don't be fooled into thinking the Asus G750JW is all talk and no action. Yes, it has borrowed vents from a sports car and the indented hinge adds bulk and looks awkward in our opinion. But make no mistake, Asus is adept at putting together a gaming laptop and here is the proof.

The illuminated keys are sensitive but won't fall apart after a long gaming session. It has dual fans to keep the system cool during a British heat wave. Plus there's a spot of Haswell Intel Core i7 and Nvidia goodness underneath the garish styling so your games have every chance of being silky smooth and highly detailed. They should sound good, too, thanks to the SonicMaster and AudiWizard sound enhancements.

At 4.8kg, the Asus G750JW is hardly a gaming laptop you can just throw in your bag, but the hefty size is a trade-off for a whopping 17.3-inch full HD display and plenty of connections including HDMI and 4 USB 3.0 ports. Definitely one of the better equipped gaming laptops on the market.

Key features: Intel Core i7-4700HQ CPU, full HD display, Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M 2GB DDR5 GPU.

Perfect for: A gamer seeking a well-thought out mid-range gaming laptop.
