What is a pinned site?
A pinned site is the name given to a website that can be accessed directly from the Windows taskbar without having to first open the browser.
Pinned websites take advantage of Internet Explorer 9's jump list functionality. Jump lists provide quick access to commands for things like composing new email messages or playing music.
Pin Facebook to your taskbar for example and you can select from News, Messages, Friends and Events.
How to pin a website
Pinning a site is easy. You can create a pinned site by dragging a browser tab to the taskbar.
When a site is pinned, right click on its icon to view the jump list. Obviously each jump list is unique to the website, so no two jump lists will be the same.
