Palm's new WebOS device, the Pixi, will be released next month in the US, hinting that a UK release won't be far behind.

It will only cost $99 (£60) on a two year contract, although US versions are traditionally cheaper than the UK due to a different handset subsidy model.

Customers will be able to get their hands on the new device from 15 November in the US, meaning it hopefully won't be too long until the UK is offered the same device.

Cheaper Palm power

The Pixi, in case you've forgotten, is the budget version of a webOS device, Palm's proprietary platform.

It brings a 2.63-inch screen, 2MP camera with flash and no Wi-Fi, meaning it will very much be aimed at the sub-power user (we just invented that term to describe those that don't want a super-fancy smartphone).

We've still no word on an actual UK release date, but we're hoping its sooner than the Pre, which took five months to move from the US to the UK.
