Halo: Spartan Assault now available
Halo: Spartan Assault, Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 game has officially arrived.
The game, which costs £4.99 in the UK, offers a different kind of experience from the normal Halo fare. It is a top-down shooter, built entirely from scratch for mobile and touchscreen devices by 343 Industries and is based in the early days of the Spartan Ops programme.
"Halo: Spartan Assault brings the excitement of Halo combat to touch-based devices for the very first time," reads the blurb on the Windows Phone store. "Battle your way through 25 action-packed missions against the Covenant as you explore the origin of the Spartan Ops program and Halo 4's Spartan Commander, Sarah Palmer."
Players will be able to challenge their mates via the Leaderboards to compare your scores and progress with friends'. There are weekly challenges, and 40 in-game achievements and medals to collect. You can also earn up to 50,000 experience points and an extra emblem for your Halo 4 Spartan.
Fans who purchase and play Halo: Spartan Assault will also unlock exclusive bonus content in the Halo 4 Champions Bundle or Halo 4 Bullseye Pack, both available on August 20, including a new weapon skin, two armour skins and a Spartan stance
In addition, 343 Industries has teamed up with Dark Horse Comics to create Halo: Initiation,a three-part comic series which reveals the story of how Commander Sarah Palmer became a Spartan-IV and leads directly into the thrilling missions of Halo: Spartan Assault.
