Games apps drop from top spots
Instant messenger WhatsApp has returned to the top of the iPhone app chart
Olympic fever appeared to die down among technology enthusiasts last week as official Games apps slipped out of the gold medal spots in the app charts.
The London 2012 Official Mobile Game, topped both the iPhone and iPad paid for app charts last week, but this week was knocked off the number one spots.
But Games-goers' desire to communicate may have propelled instant messenger WhatsApp back to the top of the iPhone paid for chart, with translation app iTranslate Voice reflecting the international flavour of the Olympic crowds at number one in the iPad paid for chart.
In the free charts, jet ski racing game Riptide GP topped the iPad chart while safe-breaking app The Heist topped the iPhone chart.
The only Olympic app to retain a podium place was the Official Game which held on in second in the paid for iPad chart.
But Olympics simulator Summer Games 3D climbed into the bronze medal spot in the paid for iPhone chart.
