The countdown has begun. At 6pm this evening, Apple will unveil its latest tablet computer, the iPad 3, at an exclusive press event in San Francisco.

We'll be covering the whole event as it happens, with a live blog direct from Apple's accompanying event in London. Our live coverage begins at 5.30pm, so be sure to come back to MSN Tech & Gadgets then for all the latest on Apple's latest device.

What we're expecting to see is a new tablet that is much faster and far more powerful than its predecessors. High-quality gaming is likely to be a focus, as is the inclusion of much-improved cameras and an even sharper screen.
