Microsoft Surface v iPad: price
Price
The defining factor in whether the Surface for Windows RT can mount a genuine challenge against the iPad is likely to be price. An entry-level iPad costs £399 - can Microsoft's new tablet better that? If not, it will face an even tougher challenge in wooing a market in which two-thirds of the customers are already opting for Apple. But with plenty still to be revealed about this new challenger, we're looking forward to seeing how it fares.

I find Apple too in your face, they take over you ipod, ipad and computer. We've lost data when it keeps trying sync without you even requesting a sync. It's too complicated to set up all the filters when you down load itunes. It has driven me and my son up the wall.
I am so glad to see apple have a bit of competition perhaps now they will learn to share with others. Give us all a bit more choice.
Apple provide locked-in user experience. An example is the iPhone 4 which can't be used as a usb device to play MP3s through my (5 years old) car stereo - but my son's £35 phone can (as can nearly every phone). The fourth generation and they still haven't got it right? - They obviously never intend to! It reminds me of the adverts for the third generation - it could now do copy and paste (about 10 years after a windows phone could)
Lack of options leads to locked-in syndrome - and locked-in thinking. Apple should name their products iAmLockedIn. Or maybe IRipYouOff.
Why do you even compare iPad with Surface, iboys? iPad is a joke or at the best case, only entertaining device. Surface is fighting in the laptop-ultrabook segment.
Dont knock it until you try it!
i like reading these. people are so biased to like what they have. personally i do see apple as a companey that only wants you to like apple products and dont like you doing anything non apple.. but then again what company isnt like that? but i do think they took it to far. as some one said. their phones 3rd gen old just realesed copy and paste.. and using the ipad as a portable device mp3 device etc. and even a flash on the camera. or using flash.. even though its being phased out. you do need versitility on a product which will be apples downfall. windows have seen this and are now realesing a product apple want the ipad to be, but becasue they are so narrow with what they will let you do on a ipad or let you download etc its failed. i work in an enviroment where i see hundreds of offic workers. not one has an ipad.. not one has a mac? windows realese this. it will basicly rule. every one will buy one insted of laptops. and ipads. why becasue of the operating system having less limits and more versitility. you wouldnt buy a car that only does 30mph when you can get a car same price that does 70mph. lol logic people think. apple are good they have started a revoloution. so did nokia with mobiles. now look at them used to be no1 selling now they are fighting to keep up with the market of samsung (leaders of the mobile market) and apple etc.
Personal choice came down to the market offerings. We wanted a device where selecting category education didn't bring up pictures unsuitable for my son to see, 'learn to please your lover' etc. and child education being worse in a few cases.
Yes apple are overpriced, but the difference is not enough for me to potentially expose my child to inappropriate, borderline illegal, content as I would have to agree to on google marketplace. Protection like this is the reason I when i and it is great for educational apps.
They build quality is good and reliability ratings equally so. If it was a fashion accesory that I would be trading in a year or so I wouldn't care, but I tend to keep devices until they die so this is good for me.
