Microsoft Surface Pro 2
Microsoft Surface Pro 2
The second generation of Microsoft’s full fat Windows 8.1 tablet has arrived. Yes, we’re talking Surface Pro 2 – the tablet cum laptop – that has just gone on sale here in Blighty. Like its predecessor, the Surface Pro 2 isn’t really a tablet at all. But then again it’s not really a laptop either. Let’s keep things simple by saying that the Surface Pro 2 is a fully functional PC in a hybrid form.
The new version of the Surface Pro 2 may be the same size and weight as the original model, but the hardware has been upgraded to improve the performance by 20%, making it faster than 95% of laptops on the market, according to Microsoft. There is also a 50% boost on the graphics performance.
Surface Pro 2 runs via a Haswell Intel i5 Core CPU (with integrated Intel HD graphics) and you can opt for either 4GB or 8GB of RAM. Storage is super speedy SSD and is 64, 128, 256 or 512GB.

Don't agree. I have an iPad and am pretty disappointed with it. It's a very expensive web browser and media player. Nothing more. iTunes is annoying and slow. I'm also sick of browsing the web with "is this site going to work on safari?" constantly in the back of my mind. On each browsing session I'll hit at least 1 website that doesn't work on safari. It integrates poorly with my business applications. If you just want a media play then go with the Kindle HD or Surface RT I reckon. The iPad is just a media player and costs loads more... all the apps are just a consumer quagmire of distraction since barely any of them offer any real life changing convenience. They're just another way for you to buy crap you don't need and pass your money onto corporate giants. Until they start to offer some real improvements on productivity of daily tasks then it's simply an expensive distraction. Why get an expensive one when you can get a much cheaper one that does the same thing?
